What styles of carpet are there?
Carpet comes in four distinct styles: Berber/loop, plush, frieze and patterned, each offering unique characteristics:
- Berber/Loop: Berber carpets are known for their looped construction, creating a textured and nubby surface. This style is durable and resistant to wear and tear, making it suitable for high-traffic areas.
- Plush: Plush carpets have a smooth, even surface with a soft and velvety texture. This style provides a luxurious feel underfoot, making it a popular choice for formal settings and areas where comfort is a priority.
- Frieze: Frieze carpets have a twisted and informal appearance, with long fibers that curl in different directions. The twisted fibers create a textured and casual look, and frieze carpets are known for their durability, making them suitable for high-traffic areas.
- Patterned: Patterned carpets feature designs created by variations in color or pile height. The texture can vary depending on the design, incorporating both loop and cut pile elements. Patterned carpets add visual interest and can be used to make a decorative statement in specific areas.
