Thank you for trusting Aladdin Carpet with your new LVT or laminate flooring. We’re proud to be part of your home and want to help you get the most out of your new floors. This simple care guide will help you maintain their beauty, durability, and long-term performance—no matter where they’re installed.
Daily & Weekly Cleaning
Regular maintenance is the key to extending the life and beauty of your flooring:
- Sweep or vacuum daily to remove dust and grit. Use a vacuum suitable for hard floors without a rotating brush or beater bar.
- Dust mop or damp mop weekly using a microfiber mop and a pH-neutral floor cleaner.
- Avoid flooding the floor or using excess moisture—especially with laminate—and never use a steam mop, as high heat and moisture can cause planks to warp or adhesives to weaken.
Tip: Always clean dry before going wet—dust first, then mop.
Spill and Spot Cleanup
LVP and laminate are resistant to stains, but they’re not stain proof. Quick action makes all the difference:
- Blot wet spills immediately with a cloth or paper towel. Rinse and dry if needed.
- For dried spots, gently agitate with a damp cloth and rinse. Blot dry.
- Tough stains like oil, marker, or crayon may require rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) on a clean white cloth.
- Do not use detergents, harsh chemicals, or abrasive scrubbers, which can leave dull residue or cause damage.
Note: Some stains may become permanent if left untreated.

Protecting Your Floors from Damage
Even tough floors need thoughtful protection:
- Always use furniture pads under legs of tables, chairs, and sofas.
- Use chair pads or mats under rolling desk chairs to prevent indentation from castor wheels.
- When moving heavy items, never drag. Lift carefully or use protective materials like plywood runners.
- Avoid taping protective coverings directly to the floor. If floor protection is needed during renovations, secure the tape to baseboards or walls, not directly on the flooring surface.
- Place walk-off mats at all entrances to reduce tracked-in dirt and moisture. Choose mats that do not have rubber or latex backing to avoid discoloration.
- Avoid direct sunlight —prolonged exposure can cause fading or plank expansion. Use blinds or window films for protection.
Tip: Floor protectors help distribute weight and prevent deep impressions from stationary items.

Climate & Temperature Considerations
LVP (especially floating floors) is sensitive to extreme temperature changes:
- Maintain a temperature range between 55°F and 155°F.
- Prolonged exposure to heat (from sunlight, heaters, or steam treatments) or cold may lead to expansion, contraction, or separation of planks.
- Laminate also performs best in stable, moderate indoor climates.
Deep Cleaning and Long-Term Maintenance
For high-traffic areas or occasional deep cleaning:
- Use a pH-neutral hard surface cleaner designed for vinyl or laminate.
- Avoid "mop and shine" or polish products—they can cause buildup and make the floor slippery or dull.
- If needed, rinse with clean water and speed up drying using fans or air movement.
Some disinfectants may contain chemicals (like quaternary ammonium salts) that can harm your floors over time. Use only neutral pH cleaning products if disinfection is required.
