everyday tile cleaning

Everyday Tile Cleaning (Floors & Walls)

  • Sweep, vacuum, or dust regularly to prevent dirt buildup and surface wear.
  • Use a soft mop or cloth with warm water and a pH neutral cleaner.
  • Wipe up spills promptly, especially on grout or textured surfaces.
  • Avoid abrasive sponges, steel wool, or acidic cleaners that could damage the glaze or finish.
  • In wet areas like showers, keep surfaces dry when possible and use proper ventilation to prevent mildew.

LEA Ceramiche Tiles with Microban®

Many LEA porcelain tiles include Microban® antimicrobial technology, which helps prevent the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew— continuously and permanently.

How to Clean:

  • Use pH-neutral or slightly alkaline cleaners for regular maintenance
  • No need for additional antimicrobial sprays—Microban® is built into the tile.
  • Avoid bleach or alcohol-based products that can affect the protective surface.

For more stubborn stains or buildup on LEA tiles, use specific cleaners based on the type of stain. Always test the product first—especially on honed or polished tiles—and follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.

  • stains like coffee, soda, or fruit juice, use an alkaline-based cleaner designed for colored organic stains.
  • For grease, heavy dirt, or general buildup from foot traffic, an alkaline degreasing cleaner will help lift the residue without damaging the tile.
  • Wine stains respond best to an oxidizing cleaner that can break down tannins and colorants.
  • Lime scale or rust should be treated with a diluted acid-based cleaner, applied carefully and followed by thorough rinsing.
  • Ink, pen, or marker stains can be removed with a solvent-based cleaner, applied directly to the spot and wiped after a short dwell time.

After using any heavy-duty product, rinse the tile thoroughly and dry with a soft microfiber cloth to avoid residue or streaks.

Villeroy & Boch Tiles with VilbostonePlus

Many Villeroy & Boch tiles come with a VilbostonePlus finish, which increases resistance to stains, dirt, and wear while preserving the tile’s natural matte texture.

How to Clean:

  • Start with dry sweeping, then clean with ceramic-safe, mild detergents.
  • No sealing is needed—the VilbostonePlus surface is factory-treated for long-lasting protection.
  • Avoid waxes, oils, or polish-based cleaners that can leave a film.
  • For textured surfaces, use a soft brush to remove grime from grooves.
