Unlike horizontal bamboo flooring and vertical bamboo flooring , the planks for strand woven bamboo flooring are created by shredded bamboos glued together and cured. A strand woven bamboo flooring is heavier and considered more durable. However, this type of bamboo flooring has difficulty meeting formaldehyde emission standards because of the amount of glue needed to make the planks. Some manufacturers opt to use lower quality adhesives with high levels of formaldehyde to minimize the cost.  If you are concerned about the amount of formaldehyde on your bamboo floor, it would be a good idea to inquire about the quality of glue utilized to make the strand woven bamboo planks. Those who consciously prefer environmentally friendly construction materials or green products would want strand woven bamboo flooring that have passed emission standards of formaldehyde.
