The most common type of processed bamboo flooring is the grained bamboo flooring that come in either horizontal or vertical. In the horizontal bamboo flooring, the bamboo slats are arranged horizontally on their widest edge and joined together using a high pressure laminate system. As opposed to vertical bamboo flooring , the finished look of horizontal bamboo flooring reveals the natural characteristics of the bamboo since the wider area of the bamboo is more visible.

Horizontal bamboo flooring can also be solid or engineered bamboo flooring. Choosing which type would depend on whether you value budget or durability. Though engineered bamboo flooring is considered to be more durable, it consequently commands a higher price than bamboo floor only made from solid bamboo wood.

Stained bamboo flooring laminated horizontally come in various shades that can complement any room. Darker shades of bamboo floor are made from carbonized bamboo which are less hard than natural (lighter shade) since these have been subjected to pressure heating.
